​With Father’s Day approaching this weekend, I have been prompted to reflect on the important role dads have in the raising of daughters. I have particularly enjoyed seeing so many dads come to Lowther Hall this week for our special Father’s Day events!

We are happy to announce that our Kinder to Year 12 House Fundraising afternoon raised over $10,000 for selected charities: 'Rainforest Rescue', 'Bee the Cure' and 'Epilepsy Action Australia'! The event was led by our Prefect Body, and girls took part in fun activities and food sales. Well done, all!

This week is Book Week and the School has been enlivened by workshops with authors, special book related activities and preparations for the big parade that took place this morning. Once again this year we were delighted that the Year 7 and Year 12 girls joined the Blinkbonnie and Raymond House students in costume to celebrate reading and end the festivities.

I am proud to be representing the School in Sydney this evening at the Australian Education Awards where Lowther Hall is one of 10 finalists from across the country in the category of “Best Student Wellbeing Program”.

​This week I am writing from Hobart where I am attending the Anglican Schools’ Conference. The theme for the conference is “Awe and Wonder” and I have enjoyed hearing various speakers reflect on this theme in the context of Anglican schooling.

This week has been full of highlights. Firstly, on Wednesday I joined the Raymond House and Senior School Captains, Faith and Worship leaders, Heads of School and Chaplains to attend the Anglican School’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral.

​Congratulations to all staff and students involved in this week’s Winter Strings Festival which was a wonderful showcase of the talent of our string players from Kindergarten to Year 12. It was a joy to see the enthusiasm from each performer and I was very proud of the standard of each item presented.

​Some excellent dance results at the recent AASCF Winterfest Competition for Lowther girls! Our Senior Hip Hop Team won the entire hip hop division, the Junior Hip Hop Team placed 1st in their division, and our lyrical dance teams performed extremely well with the Junior Team placing second in their division. Well done, girls!

​It was wonderful to welcome the girls back to school for Term 3 on Wednesday and I enjoyed meeting with them in each of their respective assemblies through the morning where we greeted new girls and staff, sang together, gave thanks for the break and focussed ourselves for the term ahead.
