There are a number of topics which I want to touch on briefly this week.
There are a number of topics which I want to touch on briefly this week.
Last week finished with the wonderful celebration of 100 days of school for our Prep girls. It was gratifying to see each girl cross the stage to receive her certificate and to reflect on how much has been learnt in such a short time at School. There is nothing quite like hearing our youngest voices sing the School Song to send you home with a smile!
If you have walked through the School this week, you may have noticed many of the glass surfaces covered in colourful writing. A closer inspection will have revealed that much of this writing takes the form of mathematics problems which the girls have been encouraged to work through in a space where others can see them.
It was wonderful to see everyone back at school after the break and to share together in a whole School assembly where we enjoyed hearing 2 of the items from the Term 2 Evening of Song again.
Term 2 is certainly finishing with a great deal of energy! This week we enjoyed the Winter String festival – which provided a wonderful opportunity for string players of all ages across the school to perform, and at lunchtimes we have been serenaded by many Senior School and Junior School girls who learn the piano, in our series of Piano Festival Concerts.
Our first Parents and Friends Association Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 3 June.
I am delighted that this week we are able to officially launch publicity for the School’s Twilight Festival. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Parents and Friends for all the work that has already been undertaken to plan this wonderful event.
Next week, I will be travelling to Wellington, New Zealand with the two Deputy Principals, where we will attend the Australasian Alliance of Girls Schools Biennial Conference.
As I write this week’s Bulletin entry, I have just returned to my desk at 9.00am on Thursday and already today I have had several reasons to be delighted by and proud of our girls.
This week has seen many more girls dusting off their winter uniforms and donning Lowther Hall scarves and beanies! At the moment we are in the transitional period where either Summer or Winter uniform may be worn and girls are encouraged to make a sensible choice about which to wear on any given day.
