We are very fortunate at Lowther Hall to have such a dedicated and professional staff who are united in their mission to provide the very best possible education for our girls. As we continue to experience a significant teacher shortage across the State, many students in other schools are trying to navigate their learning with staff who do not have training in the relevant subject area or, sometimes, without a teacher at all. At this stage, our classes remain fully staffed, with qualified specialists assigned to teach each subject on the timetable. One of the reasons we are able to attract and retain high quality teachers is because we provide them with access to contemporary professional development and opportunities for growth, encouraging them to be life long learners and to engage in classes, courses and research projects that will allow them to be at the leading edge of their profession. This semester, for example, Ms Vicki Hoban, Director of Sport and Mr Darren Emerson, Director of Music, have each partnered with a tertiary institution in order to be part of a research project: Vicki with Deakin University in the evaluation of a Fundamental Motor Skills Program at Year 7 and Darren at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music: The University of Melbourne, on a research project looking at Music, Resilience and Wellbeing. It is an absolute delight to come to work each day with such exceptional colleagues and I know that our entire school community is grateful for the lengths they go to in order to support our girls!
