Yesterday I was delighted to represent Lowther Hall at the biennial Anglican Schools’ Service at St Paul’s Cathedral. Our Senior members of the Girls’ Voices of the Cathedral sang at the service and we were also represented by the Heads of School, Junior School and Senior School Captains, Deputies and leaders of Faith and Worship. The congregation, comprising students and staff from all Anglican Schools across Victoria, were encouraged to reflect on what the world would look like if every person were truly able to love and respect themselves, their neighbours and God. It was a thought provoking service and a lovely opportunity for interaction with other schools.

This week the Senior School students have begun electing the Prefect Body for 2018. I would like to commend all girls who have taken the considered risk of putting themselves forward for consideration. As usual, the calibre of the candidates has been most impressive, and although it is inevitable that some girls will be disappointed when they are not successful, we know that all girls will gain a great deal from having participated in the process and will still make valuable contributions to the life of the School in 2018. 

Last Saturday the School Council met for their annual Strategic Planning Day which was most fruitful and an excellent opportunity to take stock of how the School is travelling, review achievements and set goals for the coming year. We toured the new Early Years and Performing Arts Centre and were pleased to see these wonderful new spaces taking shape. There were opportunities to discuss the need to provide sporting facilities on site, as well as more space for girls to participate in activities outdoors. The Council is currently working with town planners and architects to finalise plans that will meet these requirements and I look forward to sharing more specific information with you about this in the months to come.
