I know that everyone in our School Community who visited the 2018 Art and Design Exhibition will have been impressed with the variety of work on display. One of the advantages of being a school where every girl from Kindergarten to Year 12 is located on one campus is that we can hold events such as this across the whole school and see the development that occurs as students progress through the years. I was delighted this year to present the Principal’s Art Acquisition Award, to Madeleine in Year 3, who produced a work which demonstrated a strong use of colour and form to create an aesthetically beautiful rendering of blossom. This artwork (right) will hang in my office for the remainder of 2018 and will then be circulated through the School as part of our art collection from 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Visual Arts Staff for all of their work in preparing for and presenting this year’s Exhibition. It was a great success!
On Wednesday of this week, in a moving ceremony, the Prefects of 2018 were acknowledged and thanked and the Prefects of 2019 were commissioned. We were delighted to be joined by our new Bishop, Kate Prowd and it was a privilege to share the occasion with the Senior School Community of staff and students as well as family and friends of both Prefect Bodies. We have been blessed with a dynamic group of Prefects this year and they have certainly left a very positive legacy for the girls who will follow. The newly elected leaders are full of ideas and enthusiasm and have accepted their badges with a sense of optimism and an understanding of the significant responsibility that they share in leading our School. I thank our outgoing Prefects and wish our incoming Prefects every success! I look forward to working with them as we move towards 2019.
