I’m sure that those of you who attended the Parent Forum on Tuesday evening would have appreciated the insights provided by Amanda Sironic into perfectionism. Amanda spoke about healthy and unhealthy perfectionism, and offered strategies which parents can use to assist their daughters (or themselves) to minimise unhealthy perfectionism. These included: talking to children at times when they are not stressed, assisting them to see a different perspective, emphasising effort and learning rather than results, assisting with time management, providing opportunities where they learn to tolerate uncertainty, and modelling a level of comfort with mistakes.
