A Great End to the Term
There has been much cause for celebration at Lowther Hall this week with many of our Senior School Sport Teams playing in finals and having well deserved and hard fought wins to come home division, zone or overall champions in their Term 1 sports. All things Senior School tennis, indoor cricket, softball, swimming, diving, triathlon and rowing were celebrated and shared at the Years 7 to 12 Term 1 Sports Assembly yesterday where we were reminded of the many girls who have achieved their own, or contributed to a team’s, sporting success over the last 8 weeks. Last night at the Autumn Band Festival it was clear that there has been much productive rehearsal throughout the term and it was delightful to see some of our youngest brass, woodwind and percussion students take to the stage alongside our more experienced players. Well done to all!
Girls’ Voices of the Cathedral
The auditions for the new Girls’ Voices of the Cathedral have now concluded, with more than 40 girls auditioning. Parents are advised that letters which will advise girls whether they have been offered a place in the choir were posted home yesterday (addressed to the students). Please open the letter with your daughter and help her to think through the commitment required if she has been offered a place in the choir. If she has not, please encourage her to stay positive and to try again for choral opportunities in the future.
Leadership Arrangements
During Term 2, Ms Healy and Mrs Prandolini have both been granted leave. Ms Healy will be taking long service leave and Mr Richard Hunt has been shadowing her throughout Term 1 to prepare for his role as Acting Head of Senior School during Term 2. Mrs Prandolini has been granted carer’s leave to care for her son who requires post-surgery care and assistance with mobility as he recovers from a leg operation. Mr Peter Williams and Ms Lisa Ashen will be sharing the role of Acting Head of Junior School as outlined to parents in a recent letter. I am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Prandolini and Ms Healy well for the coming weeks.
Parenting Courses
During Term 2 we are excited to be offering the first in a series of parenting courses which will be running this year. Please see the flyer in this Bulletin for further details. Over the year, courses will be run for parents of girls in Years 1 to 9, beginning with Junior School year levels in the coming term. Parents of girls in Years 1 to 6 should receive a circular today with details of the course dates and payment arrangements. These opportunities have been arranged in response to parent feedback and we hope that those of you who are able to participate will find the courses useful.
Uniform Changeover
A reminder that at the start of Term 2 girls have 2 weeks when they can select which uniform (summer or winter) they wish to wear, depending on the weather. Please ensure that both uniforms are in good condition and that they fit appropriately. We would anticipate that by April 26 all girls will have transitioned to the Winter uniform, unless otherwise advised.
Easter
Today both the Senior School and Junior School girls will participate in an Easter Service. As an Anglican School, Easter is a significant event for us to celebrate, however we understand that not all members of our School Community are Anglicans. Our inclusive services invite both staff and students to connect with the messages of Easter in ways that are meaningful to them.
Holiday Wishes
I wish each of our families a safe holiday period and an Easter period informed by the joy, hope and optimism of the resurrection. I look forward to seeing everyone re-energised at the start of Term 2.
